Teacher Interview: Katie!

Where exactly are you from?

Steveston (in Richmond!) in BC, Canada.

How long have you been a teacher? At CSLI?

Since March 2015

Do you have a specialty?

I don’t have any particular specialty but I’ve had the most experience teaching the beginner conversation class. It’s been great!

What is your favorite class to teach at CSLI and how does this class help students?

I was lucky enough to get to teach the listening class for a couple of weeks. It was fantastic. In addition to listening, it also is a great way for students to focus on vocabulary and pronunciation.

What is your favorite CSLI monthly graduation and why?

I had a great time at the Beach Grad despite the weather but I am most excited for the boat cruise grad because I love the water!

Where abroad have you taught? How long and how was your experience there?

I haven’t had the chance to teach abroad just yet but I would love to go anywhere in South America in the future.

Have you taught at other ESL schools?

I did my practicum at ISS but CSLI is my first school!

Why do you love teaching at CSLI?

CSLI students are so friendly and energetic. It really makes a difference in class. The teachers and staff are incredibly supportive and make coming in every morning really enjoyable.

What is your favorite thing to do in Vancouver?

The Aquarium is my favourite place in the whole city but I also love walking around and finding new places to eat (because I’m always hungry!)
